At the moment this consists mainly of X-Men, but in the future I do plan on bringing in a lot of other heroes/ pop culture figures.Xavier Gale-Sideshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14810300796614926303noreply@blogger.comBlogger47125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573390418426889425.post-81787104926311066362013-05-04T05:17:00.000-07:002013-05-04T08:13:20.569-07:00Dark Knight Rises - BANE
Bane

So, finally, I've got around to finishing Bane, and I'm pretty proud by the results. He looks a beast next to the other paper heroes. There are two separate version, one with a coat and one without so you can choose what look you want for him.

I was worried that he looked a bit TOO beefed up at first, but if any model should look like it could smash in all your other paper heroes, it should probably be Bane. The coat is the same as all the other coats so it shouldn't be a problem. The mask is very fiddly though, so I've included a flat 2D mask that you can stick on if you don't find it necessary to have a 3D mask, of if it seems too much like hard work.

(As an extra, you can download a broken Batman mask that I used in the preview image here, There aren't any instructions but if you've built the Batman model before it should be easy.)

They contain more instruction than the average mypaperhero does so they should be easier to make, and currently there's a deal on if you get the whole set together.

So I started this one last year some time as some people may know but there was a lot I didn't like about it. I've since had the time to rework it heavily and I'm really pleased with how the final model turned out.

Here's Wonder Woman......

If you're unsure how the head is pieced together from the plan, I've still left the old quick guide up, hope it helps.
View image turtorial on building the head/hair

All in all she should be pretty straight forward considering some of the models that have been on here recently (I'm looking at you Loki+DockOck). It makes a change to have a more basic model that people can use as a starting model.

Hope you all enjoy. Feel free to show other people my site and to post pictures of any of your models when you complete them.

For everyone wondering...

BANE WILL BE NEXT!

I've noticed a lot of requests for game characters that we may see here, including a few other cult figures not connected to any comics. I've al so been VERY impressed by some of the stuff appearing on Deviant from other designers so may try and do another feature post some time.

Any comments welcome

First of all...

Merry Xmas everybody! Hope Robot Santa doesn't get you!

I thought in time for Christmas I'd try and make sure I got Loki finished for all the people that have been following my page, so now your Avengers team has someone to fight! (Batman could fight him too, but I'm not sure what chance he would stand). Needless to say, life etc has very much got in the way of my model making but I'll try and make it my New Years resolution to get models up more regularly again. Hope you think he's been worth the wait!

I'm not convinced his face is entirely Hiddlestony but it definately has a Loki vibe.
I'll warn you now, there is a LOT going on on this model and he will be pretty difficult if you've not done other models before. I've tried a new aproach with doing the coat which should make it a little less blocky now. Likewise his shoulder pads are a seperate piece that sits on top.

As I was making it, I was planning on making it MUCH simpler, but I think the intricate design of Loki's costume really leands itself to doing multiple layers and the end result, especially with the helmet, should look impressive with your other models.

So I've just had to move house or this one would have come to you sooner. In case you still actually have some black ink left in your printer after making Batman.. Here's Catwoman!!

The goggles may seem a little confusing at first, but once you've printed them off and put all of the folds in, it should become a lot more obvious how they fit together. Despite the whole "having to come up with a real-world solution to why she should have cat ears" thing, I actually really digged catwomans look in the new film.

When you build the model you may notice there have been a couple of other changes since this picture was taken, especially bulking out the goggle straps a little.

Any questions feel free to ask, and I'd LOVE to hear any feed back that you have!

I don't think this one needs much of an introduction. To commemorate the launch of a little film that you may have heard of, Dark Knight Rises... I bring you the first of a small selection of Batman characters.

Warning : In case you couldn't tell, this one is going to eat half of your black ink!

This model actually came together really quickly and I was suprised at how well the mask and ears worked out. The model is RELATIVELY simple, apart from the ears, belt and blades on the gauntlet, but the blades at least can be skipped if you don't want to do anything too fiddly as I think they can retract anyway.

The helmet is removeable, and he's actually looking quite a lot like Bale. I'm in the middle of making Catwoman at the moment and there will be a couple more characters to come over the next few weeks. They won't be nearly as quickly together as the Avengers models were though so you will need a little patience.

Site Redesign
You'll notice the site has had a quick renovation! It's been using a template for years as I didn't imagaine it would grow as big as it has. I think for the moment this update makes it look a lot better and would love any feedback that you have!

Loki
He has been requested a LOT since I released my Avengers set. I agree with the lot of you that the set doesn't feel complete without him and I WILL DEFINATELY MAKE HIM, but I have a few other Work-In-Progress models I'm getting finished up first before I do!

Now onto the main event....

Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man 2 Version)

So this one started purely as an experiment to see if I could make the tentacles actually look any good. As it turned out, I think they turned out so well it would have been a shame not to complete the whole character.

I wouln't reccoment this if you haven't built any other models as it does get quite complex, but if you've done some other models already you should have no trouble at all.

Getting the hair right was probably the most difficult part of the model tbh, and you'll notice that on the final model it looks different still than the pictures shown here. It's a little more messed up now, to reflect the movie look more Accurately.

Click here to download Doctor Octopus
(PS. That issue with the latest firefox is still there ATM, so if it causes an error, right click the link and click "Save Link As... " instead, to save the template and then open it.)

As you can see, they make a pretty good team. I DO feel that something's certainly missing so I MAY get around to making a Loki sometime in the future. If I do, I might do a Chitauri army builder as well, but this won't be for a while.

Here's the last of my Movie Avengers for the moment...

This model turned out pretty well and I thought would be a good adition to the rest of the team. His jacket may give you a few issues, but if you just look back at the pictures of him you should be able to see more earily how I've fitted it together. And for anyone reading Scarlet Spider (which is a great read, as well as the current Venom series) I guess he can double as 616 Fury Jr as well now.

I wanted to give him a rocket launcher too but had no idea how I'd fit it on to the model. You'll notice as well that some of the details have changed in the file compared to the picture above as a few different highlights on the jacket have been more evident on images released since I first put together the model and I've incorporated these into the file. This just means the version you make will be a little more accurate.

Last but not least, he actually does have the cosmic cube in the briefcase, incase you missed it in the earlier preview. I've tried to make a simple hinge mechanism so that you can open and close the briefcase without damaging it.

On to the penultimate model of my Movie Avengers....

Warning : You're going to need a needle and thread for this one!!!

This model took a lot of constant rework to get his look right, and to get his position how I wanted it. It wasn't really until the face started to take on his essence more and all of his accessories started piling up that I began to think he was right... and now I think he's probably one of my favourite of the Avengers models that I've done.

He does get quite intricate in parts, so you'll notice that he's probably got more instructions included on the pages than any other files have to date. If things seem far more complicated than they should be, just sit back, relax, and try and picture the shape in your head, to see if it makes it easier seeing how it goes together (and remember you can refer to the pictures here).

The arrows in the quiver is just an illusion to look like he's got loads of arrows.. it still doesnt mean the shape isn't going to be a pain to cut out and fold though.

I've also included his shades, as he has them on all the promotional materials, even if he doesn't seem to actually wear them at all in the film.

Just as a quick note, some people seem to be having an issue in Firefox with the PDF files not loading correctly and the plugin giving an error message.

For the moment, right click the file and click Save Link As to download it first and they should work fine!

I'll look into this issue some more and let you know what I find outXavier Gale-Sideshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14810300796614926303noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573390418426889425.post-79337844940847233912012-05-07T15:24:00.002-07:002012-05-07T15:24:58.573-07:00Marvels Avengers: ThorThor

Another of the completely new models.

So, let's be honest, I think this one is probably one of the most anticipated of my Avenger Models, as he's had a lot of requests. I really do hope he's lived up to people's expectations.

The hair works in a similar way to Storms, so the sides fix to the head once the head is complete. You'll notice I've not added markers for where the arms should go on this one. It should be clear, anatomically where they go, but this way it gives the added advantage that you can stick his arm wielding his hammer up in the air instead if you'd rather.

He comes with his hammer, obviously, and also a removeable helmet to make as an added extra. He is slightly taller than all of the other Avengers tho no-where near hulk height.

The cape may seem a bit confusing at first, but I've added what instruction I can. The tabs that fit on the shoulders especially may seem a bit strange, as they stick out over the edge of the body, but once the head and arms are in place, the look right and allow the cape to have some extra width.

Here's the first of the completely new models. The top's done a bit differently to add a bit more too it, which looks really good on the finished model.

The most difficult part was the arms (which look different in the final model to how they do in the picture) because its SO hard getting arms in more dynamic poses to still look in proportion.. considering the entire model is so out of proportion.

I hope you like how it turned out though.

I've also included an alternate hairstyle for her Iron Man 2 look, as she did look smoking in that film and some of you might prefer this style. I've also tried to put as much instruction as I can into how all her straps and belts fix into place, but let me know if you need any clarification.

On to the second of my Avengers team (or third I guess, as we've already got Iron Man further below)

Heres Captain America, updated with his Avengers uniform, which is actually a lot more complicated and detailed than it at first seemed. I actually had really mixed feelings about the hood from all the stills we were seeing, but after watching the film, it really doesn't stand out or look as funny as it did it pitctures.

Despite sharing the same body model, the whole figure has been redesigned. He even comes with two different heads, one with the mask and one without.

I'd thought about doing a removable helmet on him like Iron Man and.. err.. another model to be released ;) ... but I like the whole side parting he's got going on.

So following on from my last post (go read it now if you haven't)

Heres the Hulk, updated to look more like his Avengers movie counterpart. It's mostly a recolour, but I've reworked the whole face and hair to look more movie styled and to tie in better with the Avenger models.

He's one of the more simpler models to make, so theres little instruction. He's also one of the largest, so although he can be made using plain A4 printing paper, if you get the chance grab some 160gm paper.. its only sliiiiiightly thicker, but enough to make building the models a bit easier.

To celebrate the launch of the Avengers movie, I've put together a couple of models for you all to enjoy that I'll be putting online over the next couple week or two. Some are older models reworked to make them more movie styled, and some models are brand new (which may or may not include a certain hero who's been on my most requested list for a while).

Iron Man, is one that I haven't updated mind, as the second costume he wears was too similar to warrant the amount of work put in at the moment, so if you've not done him yet, go back and make him now to go with your other avengers

One more thing, I've actually added a donate button to my page now, as you might have noticed. I really don't expect to make money from this blog, but if I can cover my ink, paper and hosting costs.. and maybe have enough for a drink or two, then I'll be happy, thanks :D

Just when you thought it was safe to remove this page from your bookmarks... POW!

Yes, I've actually got him finished. Got him finished a week a go or so but he's needed an awful lot of instructions within the file. Let me know if any bits seem missing. I really hope you think he's worth the wait. These are the best pictures I could take of him, but Im not happy how they've turned out. IMO he looks a lot better in person.

The best way to build him is to build each module seperately, then stick them all togetehr like a sentinel shaped jigsaw puzzle. The one on the picture is using A4 paper (or thin card) so here's a look at him scaled to other models...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 346px; height: 352px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyUwSb2piPRzLjBZJmMRJDpxgYPxjAAonha32e5BKNFwsPorlw5KTVxo3b28Of3fxSWrLxOZ34EN2mjaqsDgdR6g3-SfdzX487i9XaORh_p74NyNjFQnNNvfL0OJ8v0BcNqA9xTXWlnVwr/s400/sentinel3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5646437184427113154" />

I really don't think the pictures do him, or especially the size of him much justice so make him yourself to see. Though if anyone actually has the ink to build a few with A3 paper stretched to fit, feel free to post pics.

He makes a nice companion to my other X-Men so far. I might build a second and put one on each side instead (I like phoenix as a centrepiece to them)
Sorry it's been QUITE so long since my last update. I'm still here, I'm still working too hard, but I'm still trying to fiT in making some more heroes into my hectic life. Hopefully my next update one will be sooner (already started on my next model).
Thankyou for the concern though.

I've not retired either from Paper Model making, I'm just CRAZY busy with my job, working practically 8 day weeks (the fact I've had to take a few days off with exhaustion shows how bad it's been getting). I wish I could spend more time on my heroes as I miss being able to make them.

Glad there are folks over at Deviantart carrying on my legacy while I can't and love seeing what they're doing with them.

That said, I have been working on a new model recently (the said time off helped) that I hope to have up some time over the next couple of weeks. For all those wanting someone for your X-Men to fight against the next update should be right up your street ;)

Thanks for your patience + sorry about the lack of anything going on over here.

XavierXavier Gale-Sideshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14810300796614926303noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573390418426889425.post-69917942959751284162010-10-13T08:26:00.000-07:002010-10-13T08:45:26.817-07:00Teddy And The Yeti! This weekend Wagon Wheels Comics was presenting Teddy and the Yeti at NYCC 2010!

If you weren't there to pick up your own Teddy and Yeti MyPaperHeroes you can download them here now!

Teddy and the Yeti is a comic book created by Jeff McClelland and Duane Redhead. I am still working on him, but I want the body to be perfect before I realease him and im still not digging him entirely.

On to the Paperheroes...

Cannonball
First up I thought I'd do a variant of Cannonball in his current New Mutants costume to go with the rest of the team. Arms can be positioned up or down as you choose. The flame effect that was in the previous release is in the file, despite not being on all the promo images.

Download Cannonball here

Moonstar
Moonstar turned out pretty well. Quite a basic figure. though the hair may seem complicated, it's just the same as Jean/psylockes etc.
The dagger might be a bit fiddly but shouldn't be anything too bad.

Download Moonstar here

Karma
I'm actually really disapointed with how all the photos of Karma turned out. They really don't do the model justice, it looks a lot better in person. Her face probably took the most effort in this model as I was trying to give some characters more distinc ethnicities than any of my other models have.

Download Karma here

Sunspot
Despite the effects used, this should be a very basic figure. It's a bit of a cheap one from me, using different body parts to create a new model (Look at me, I'm Toy-Biz) but I think the whole model comes together on its own.

Download Sunspot here

Magik
I have to warn you with this one. It does get DAMN tricky with her arm+Sword. As always, I've tried to make it clear in instructions but if you have any other problems I can try posting more information to clarify anything.
All in all the sword turned out A LOT better than I thought it would so I'm pretty proud of her :)

Download Magik here

There's my team so far. I know there are a few more, ie Doug, Warlock and Wallpapergirl... i mean Magma sorry... but they will all have to wait. Have a few other models on my mind now... hopefully I'll actually get some time to do them.

Happy building!

Hope you all enjoy them as much as my other models.

Any comments welcome

Regards
Xavier
mypaperheroes@hotmail.co.uk

Ps. Nearly half the people visiting my site are from France. I'm curious where you're all hearing about the site from?

Final note : Even moreso than usual, on the first few days after I've uploaded the videos I get a lot more traffic than my internet host is meant to have so if you have problems downloading files, clear your Cache and then try again later.Xavier Gale-Sideshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14810300796614926303noreply@blogger.com35tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573390418426889425.post-90152285615500344312010-06-16T05:34:00.000-07:002010-06-16T06:02:55.719-07:00Your Custom HeroesSo this is a bit of a different post from my others......

It's recently come to my attention, and if you've been following the talkbacks on some of the other characters you may have found as well, that there are other people using the templates here to build their own Paper Heroes.

I'm definately honoured, and pleased that people are finding their own ways to enjoy the site (as long as theres a link back here eventually :P lol)

I Thought that I'd start sharing these with you. Some are characters I'm planning, some I'm probably not going to get around to making myself for quite a while, and some I probably wouldn't ever get to (ie. Headpool - :) did make me laugh).
Also, really I just wanted to let other people show off what they've done too.

If you know any other designers that have made custom paperheroes or if you are yourself and want to share them, feel free to give me a shout. I really do need a gallery for people to upload images of the models they build from here to show off their handiwork.

Here's a few Customs I've been sent / come across recently.

HyperDav's Jubilee

A combination of many different parts from different models (see if you can spot them) He's also edited Wolverine into a more traditional Blue + Yellow colour scheme.

Click here to download HyperDav's Jubilee

Click here to download HyperDav's Yellow and Blue Wolverine

SharkBomb's Deadpool

SharkBomb's made everyones favourite (albeit at the moment a bit over saturated) mercenary. I think he's used the base of the first cyclops. Check out his deviant site and view all the other paperheroes and Cubees he's made.
He currently has most of the Deadpool Corps made. SharkBomb has a lot of Cubees on his site too and he seems to work very quickly, so will probably have more Paper Heroes on his site eventually than I do.

Click here to go to SharkBomb's Deviant Site...

Hope you like the links and find them as interesting as I do. I actually kinda like Rulk. It might be because I worked out his real identity quite a while ago (C'mon the 'Milksop' line was a dead giveaway). Sure he did bonkers things like punch out the watcher (wtf) but I liked how the whole story played out and liked all the clues there about his identity when you knew where to look from them.

I've made him very angry looking as he seems to look madder than regular Hulk most of the time. like the last Hulk, his arms can be attached by his side or up in the Air like shown in the picture

Download Rulk here

Any comments welcome

Regards
Xavier
mypaperheroes@hotmail.co.ukXavier Gale-Sideshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14810300796614926303noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573390418426889425.post-39144917885050784422010-06-10T01:46:00.000-07:002010-06-10T01:56:59.714-07:00Captain America - Bucky VariantCaptain America (Bucky Variant)

Here's the first of a pair of variants that I'll be uploading today.

I thought I'd get the Captain America Bucky costume done as it seems to be quite popular now. I could NEVER have believed that I would have liked any story that brought back Bucky, it was the unsaid rule of Cap that you just shouldn't do that.... and then Brubaker not only brought him back, but then replaced the regular Cap with him, and made him even more popular! Now that's good writing.

Still can't get great pictures. Moved into a new apartment and theres not enough room / light to get a good shot

Download Bucky here

Hope you all enjoy. I thought I'd get a Captain America done as he seemed an easy enough character to make (though did have a fair bit of trouble getting the arms to look right.. especially the one holding the shield.)

There really isn't anything hugely different from the basics on him. Hope you all enjoy. I thought I'd go with the classic Steve Rogers look, but I will be doing a variant soon :)

Here's Cap......

The pictures not great. Hopefully il get a better one up soon. He doesn't look as evil in real life as he does in this pic either.

Download Captain America here

Hope you all enjoy. I decided to do her in her current costume as I've been trying to stick with current costumes and then producing the 'classics' as variants at later dates (see last post). I think this costume emphasises her 'femininity' a bit more than the old 90s coverall with the giant shoulders (Il get to that costume eventually).

I tried to recreate the outfit as best as I could but it seems to change Artist to artist, even down to things like the colouring (ie the costume highlights being white or gold randomly) but I tihnk i've got a good enough aproximation to work with the look of my models and to make her look good.

Here's Storm......

This one, as you can probably tell from the photos, is VERY complicated and so I wouldn't recomend making this one until you have made at least one other model, so you know the mechanics of how parts like the hair fit together. I've tried to put as detailed explanations as I can in but let me know if you are having any problems and I will try to clarify things.

Remember : My host is pretty bad and I've been getting a couple of hundred times more traffic than I ever expected, so if the file doesn't download, try again after an hour or so or the next day.

To download right click files and then click "save target as.."
Otherwise, if Explorer has any problems or it doesn't download the whole file it seems to cache it half loaded so people are having trouble with only a few pages loading.

Download Storm here

Hope you all enjoy.
